E-coli Reduction on the San Francisco River – This grant funded by a grant from the ADEQ Water Quality Improvement Grant Department, will address the serious E.coli contamination on the San Francisco and lower Blue Rivers in Greenlee County. It involves developing a Watershed Improvement Council that will lead efforts to sample the rivers to determine the source(s) of the contaminant. Once the source(s) have been determined, the Watershed Improvement Council will recommend and prioritize projects and programs to address the issue, and seek funding. Our goal is to remove the two rivers from the EPA's list of Impaired Waters, and enjoy our clean healthy rivers.
E.coli Reduction on the San Francisco River through Alternative Livestock Water on the Kaler Ranch This project, funded by a grant from the ADEQ Water Quality Improvement Grant Department, was written to fund a solar well that will provide water for livestock on the Kaler Ranch. The ranch is a contributing factor in the E.coli issue on the San Francisco River, and this project will provide water outside of the riparian area.
The Gila River Restoration at Apache Grove This project was made possible through funding from the Arizona Water Protection Fund and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife - Partners for Fish and Wildlife Grant Program. It will remove levees, establish a vegetation buffer, and restore proper function to a portion of the Gila River. Apache Grove Power Point Presentation
